Are you motivated to Learn?

Do you burn yourself out trying to learn something?  If you have answered ‘Yes’ you need to learn –how to learn. Motivation to learn is the key.

The process of learning is the most natural thing in the world. As a child we are motivated to imitate our elders; we imbibe the rules of our community consciously and unconsciously.  We are motivated to 'fit in' and become a part of the community.  We have no difficulty whatsoever in grasping the essentials of such knowledge.  Why then, a need to learn how to learn?

Factors that power the intent to learn are motivation, confidence and planning. If you have all these, you are, and always will be a learner.  Most often than not we have neither the motivation nor the confidence to learn and hence we become difficult learners.

So, look within and see if you have the necessary motivation to learn.

The motivation may or may not be derived from an interest in the subject. It may be merely a desire to take up the challenge and prove something to yourself or someone around you. You are, at best, a person motivated to achieve for achievements sake. In itself, such motivation is good and will bring you a modicum of success.

Confidence in your ability to achieve is a direct fall out of motivated learning. Structured and planned learning schedules will break up the process and allow you savour the joy of achievement as you reach a milestone.  You will feel the joy of progressive achievement and well structured learning.

However, if motivation to achieve is combined with genuine interest in the subject, you will have a powerful catalyst for learning. Your success will be a foregone conclusion.
